Sight Seeing(Ancient and Modern)
Menorca is great for site seeing. There are Navetas all over the island, they are named so
because they resemble an inverted ship. They were initially
used as habitats, then as burial chambers.
Taulas (unique to Menorca) are also very common.
They are made from large stones to form a 'T' shape. There
is speculation
as to its origin, but the consensus of opinion is that it
has some religious significance in the Iberian Religion.
The
taulas, massive T-shaped rock monoliths, the talyots, prehistoric
watchtowers on the top of hills, and the navetas, prehistoric burial
chambers, abound all over the island.
The naveta of Es Tudons is a short walk off the main trunk road
just outside Ciudadela and is one of the oldest buildings in Europe.
Fiestas
In Menorca local fiestas are alive and thriving. Unlike so
many
other places where their most traditional and authentic fiestas have
fallen victim to the age of plastic. Each town or village takes its turn
to put on a fantastic display. Usually involving music, fireworks, costumes
and horse riding.

like
nightclubs.
