Sports

Menorca has excellent sports and water sports facilities if you feel energetic on your holiday. Most sports are catered for from walking to private airplane trips - bookable at the old airport.

There are walking guides in the villa or you can do you own thing. Be careful not to cross private land without permission though.

There is a very active cricket club in Biniparrell on the road between S'Ullestra and Llumesanas - not far from Trebaluger. With a bar that serves drinks and snacks it is the best ground in the Balearics and visitors (and visiting players) are most welcome. Games are played throughout the summer, many against visiting teams from the UK - see Roqueta for the fixtures list.

The only golf club on the island is at Son Parc, although at present it is only 9 hole (increasing to 18 in 2003) it is a very good and challenging course. There is a well stocked shop and clubhouse with a bar and restaurant. There is also a small floodlit driving range with pitch and putt practice area and tennis courts. Only soft spikes or trainers (no metal spikes) are allowed on the course. To book a tee time phone 971 188875 or go to www.clubsonparc.com

There is a bowls green in S'Algar - turn left at the roundabout as you enter S'Algar. The green is open every morning from 10:00 -13:00 with free lessons if required. Woods are available for hire at approx €3 per hour.

The is a very good Scuba diving school in S'Algar and Binibeca where you can take lessons or do a 'Try Dive' (no previous experience required). They also do boating courses, windsurfing and water-skiing.

You can fish in Mahon Harbour, Cala Fons(Es Castell), Fornells Harbour (beautiful harbour on the north coast) or at the back of Son Bou beach (it's salt water, but it seems like a lake). There is a tackle shop on Mahon Harbour - go down the winding road and turn right.
